Finger Ulcer- I get this ulcer on the same right thumb about 3 times a year. The skin will start turning hard in about a week and eventually my finger nail will fall off. This is the beginning stage of my finger ulcer:

hi i registered to comment on your picture... do you have raynaud's along with Lupus? im sorry you suffer from these..do you take meds for it? i lost my thumb and toe from something like this and nothing helped me..if you have any ideas for future occurences love for you to share?

First of all, thank you for registering and welcome! I am sorry that you experience some of the same issues. I do have raynaud's along with lupus. I am from Connecticut and had to move to Florida for warmer weather to help control the raynauds. I was very fortunate in Connecticut to not have lost any digits, although I came close.
I used hand warmers inside of mittens, not gloves. The mittens help to keep fingers together and any sort of warmth that you may have (next to nothing I'm sure!) and the hand warmers, which you can find at Walmart, helped to warm my fingers enough to prevent frost bite. I stayed out of the cold, had a handicap spot for wintertime parking and would wear 2 or 3 pair of fleece socks along with thick lined boots. I wore a down coat and several long sleeve shirts to keep my whole body warm. Keeping my whole body warm helped to keep my hands warm too. I could put my hands on my stomach to warm them up.
Now, living in Florida, I still have issues, as you can see in the picture, however it is nothing like living in the northeast. I wish I had more suggestions for you. I wish you the best with your ulcers and please post more! It is great to see contributions!!
